Isa in the Qur'an

Text

Dear Muslim friend,
have you searched the Qur’an on what it says about the prophet Isa (Jesus)?

The Qur’an teaches that Isa (Jesus) was born of a virgin.
“She said: “How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?” Quran 19:20

The Qur’an teaches that Isa (Jesus) could speak as a baby. ٰ
“He will speak unto mankind in his cradle and in his manhood, and he is of the righteous.” Quran 3:46

The Qur’an teaches that Isa could give life to inanimate objects, heal the sick, give sight to the blind and resurrect the dead.
“And (appoint him) an apostle to the Children of Israel, (with this message): “’I have come to you, with a Sign from your Lord, in that I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah’s leave: And I heal those born blind, and the lepers, and I quicken the dead, by Allah’s leave; and I declare to you what ye eat, and what ye store in your houses. Surely therein is a Sign for you if ye did believe.” Qur’an 3:49

The Qur’an teaches that Isa is Holy, that means Isa is without sin.

He said: “Nay, I am only a messenger from thy Lord, (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son. Qur’an 19:19

Isa (Jesus) is exalted compared to Muhammad in his birth, infancy, healings, creating, and giving life to the dead. The Qur’an says that Isa (Jesus) is sinless and nowhere in the Qur’an does it show that Muhammad was sinless. In fact, it shows Muhammad had sinned! He confesses not only that he has sinned, but also his future sins.

Know, therefore, that there is no god but Allah, and ask forgiveness for thy fault, and for the men and women who believe: for Allah knows how ye move about and how ye dwell in your homes. Qur’an 47:19

That Allah may forgive thee thy faults of the past and those to follow; fulfill His favour to thee; and guide thee on the Straight Way; Qur’an 48:2

This is of significant importance. Muslims, you believe that if your good deeds outweigh your bad deeds you will enter paradise (Qur’an 21:47 & 23:102-103). But Adam and Eve were kicked out of God’s presence over one sin (Qur’an 7:19-22). What makes you think you can work off your sins? Sin is terrible, it is rebellion against the very God who made you. Sin is against God’s character, law, and universal government.

God cannot be in the presence of a single sin, God is holy, perfect and righteous. All sin deserves death. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Rom. 6:23

“Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” Heb. 9:22. A sacrifice for sins has always been portrayed in the Torah and Injeel. Moses (Musa) was commanded by God to institute the sacrifice. Kill the Passover lamb. And you shall take a bunch of hyssop, dip it
in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. And none of you shall
go out of the door of his house until morning. For the LORD will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the LORD will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you. Exo. 12:21-23

To deny the sacrifice for sins is to deny Abraham (Ibrahim), Moses (Musa), and David (Dawud). They all practiced the sacrifice for their sins. Even today Muslims celebrate Eid Al Adha and sacrifice an animal, this practice comes from the prophets of God. The sacrifice is to have death pass over you.

If you burnt down a building that was worth 50 million dollars, do you think you could go to a judge and say to him, “Look at all my righteous deeds” and he would let you go? A good judge would say your good works are irrelevant, you have broken the law and I have to give you justice. And how much more Holy, righteous and strict will the God who is in Heaven be? Do we suppose God has a lesser standard of righteousness than any human judge? If a judge let someone get away with a crime by paying it off with his good works we would call him a corrupt judge who takes bribes.

Dear Muslim friend, read what the Qur’an says about the Torah and Injeel. It says Allah has sent prior revelations before the Qur’an.
“It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind.” Qur’an 3:3

And even in Muhammad’s generation the Bible was not corrupt.

“We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the Law that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel: therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Law that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah.” Qur’an 5:46

Would the Qur’an tell you the Bible is a guidance and a light if it was corrupted? There are many existing manuscripts of the Bible from the time of the writing of the Qur’an that we can examine and see that it is exactly the same as the Bible we can hold in our hands today. Proving that it has not been corrupted.

The Bible says: “I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Mat. 5:28

“Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.” 1 John 3:15

“Idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire.” Rev. 21:8

“But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.” Mat. 12:36

We will all stand before God with many sins. God has seen everything you’ve done, he knows exactly what is in your heart. Be reasonable Muslim friends, how can your finite works pay off infinite God? But there is hope!

Imagine if you had a 50 million dollar fine and the judge said to either pay the fine or you’re going to jail for life. So they were just about to throw you in jail and Jesus walks into the courtroom and pays that 50 million dollar fine. At that point, the judge could say your fine is paid, justice is served, and I can let you go.

That’s why Jesus is called the Lamb of God. John (Yahya) saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29. This is so death would pass over you and you could receive God’s mercy. Jesus is your only hope to have your sins paid for. He clearly stated he was the only way into heaven.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:16-18

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

Dear Muslim friend, don’t reject the sacrifice for your sins that was foreshadowed to come. To save your soul from Hell you need to turn from your sins, confess them to God, and trust and believe in Jesus who paid for your sins on the cross. You have a loving, merciful, personal God who is ready to forgive all who come to Him through Jesus Christ
